NACo to Host Jail Diversion Forum
With support from Eli Lilly & Company, NACo will be hosting a County Jail Diversion Forum in Allegheny County (Pittsburgh), PA, May 5th and 6th, 2010. The forum will present counties with a chance to learn about and improve upon local efforts to divert individuals with mental illness from the criminal justice system. The first day will consist of a site visit to two diversion programs housed inside the Allegheny County Jail. The second day will consist of educational sessions featuring both local and national experts, highlighting the county supervisor role in these issues. Registration is open to all NACo member counties that did not attend the County Jail Diversion Forum in Bexar County in October 2009. Register now, as space is limited and operates on a first come, first serve basis. Registration closes April 2, 2010.
