In the wake of the City of Bell salary debacle, State Controller John Chiang has announced new reporting requirements for California’s counties and cities, directing them to clearly identify the compensation given to elected officials and public employees. CSAC supports this requirement.

A pioneering and long time California County Administrator, George Gaekle passed away Monday at his home in Modesto. George was the first County Administrative Officer in Butte County, appointed by the Board of Supervisors in 1953 and serving to 1967. He was appointed Stanislaus CAO in 1968 serving until his retirement in 1979.
The SF Chronicle today recommended San Mateo County Supervisor Rich Gordon in the race to fill the AD 21 seat and in doing so recognized Supervisor Gordon’s prior role as President of CSAC.
