As the chief accounting officer of the County, the Auditor and Controller shall, in accordance with general law and generally accepted accounting principles, maintain accounts of the financial transactions of all departments and of those districts whose funds are kept in the County Treasury; shall prescribe and supervise accounting systems and necessary financial reports; shall prepare reports the Board of Supervisors, the Chief Administrative Officer, and the Chief Financial Officer considers necessary for management of County operations; shall exercise a general supervision, including the ability to review departmental and countywide internal controls over the accounting forms and the method of keeping the accounts of all offices, departments and institutions under the control of the Board of Supervisors and of all districts whose funds are kept in the County Treasury; shall provide for audits as required by County Charter; and to perform related work. This is a one position executive management class allocated only to the Department of the Auditor and Controller. The incumbent is responsible for managing the overall activities of the department and serving under the general direction of the Chief Financial Officer/General Manager.
1) A bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. college or
university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in
accounting, finance, public administration, business
administration or a related field; AND,
2) Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification; AND,
3) Five (5) years of experience in a senior fiscal management position performing accounting, budgetary control, auditing, and supervising subordinate staff.
