Description:

Orange County (population 3,166,000) is the third largest county in California and one of the largest in the nation. There are 34 cities within the County and it covers 798 square miles, bordered on the west by 42 miles of ocean shoreline. The County has a FY 2012-13 budget of $5.6 billion (including a General Fund budget of $3.1 billion) with over 17,000 employees. Orange County has a charter form of government with five Supervisors elected by district, on a non-partisan basis, for four-year staggered terms.  This position reports to the Board of Supervisors.

Qualifications:

The selected candidate will ideally have a bachelor’s degree and/or a master’s degree in public administration, finance or a related field, as well as extensive management/supervisory experience in a complex work environment. Prefer proven successful oversight of large scale administrative programs, budget and finance, human resources, public works, planning and legal matters, as well as strong public relations skills.

Desire leadership experience in a large general purpose local government, as a CEO or Assistant CEO, including management of multiple functions. However, a dynamic leader from a large, diverse private company may also be acceptable. Candidates from all geographic areas will be considered, although familiarity with California would be a plus.
