Incumbents will perform a variety of professional legal services to the County through the County Counsel’s Office. Legal services include legal counsel and advice to the Board of Supervisors and County Departments; preparing agreements, contracts, resolution, and ordinances; filing and litigating civil cases and condemnation cases; coordinating the collection of delinquent accounts; acting as Attorney for the Public Administrator and Public Guardian; and coordinating the defense of bodily injury and property damage suits under the County’s Self-Insured Liability Program.

Qualifications:

Level I: Some professional legal experience is desirable; Level II: One (1) year of legal experience comparable to that of a Deputy County Counsel I with Madera County; Level III: Two (2) years of legal experience comparable to that of a Deputy County Counsel I with Madera County. *Preference may be given to those candidates who possess previous experience in labor/employment law.

AND for all levels:  Graduation from an accredited school of law; active membership in the California State Bar; and possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Class ‘C’ Driver’s License.
