Description:
Under general direction, to direct the activities of the behavioral health clinical programs including program planning and evaluation of mental health, alcohol and drug abuse services, and public relations; to plan, organize, assign and supervise the work of staff in the Behavioral Health Division, to organize, coordinate, evaluate and direct mental health and alcohol and drug programs; and to do related work as required.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of Federal, state, and local laws and regulations
governing behavioral health, alcohol and other drug services;
Local, statewide, and national behavioral health delivery
systems; Principles, techniques, and practices of effective
behavioral health services development and administration;
Program planning and development; Computer systems and usage;
Behavioral Health and Alcohol & Drug program funding principles;
Budget development and expenditure control; Principles and
techniques of effective employee supervision, training,
evaluation, and development; and Community needs and
resources.
Training and Experience: Any
combination of training and experience which would likely provide
the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way
to obtain the required knowledge and experience would include the
following: Completion of an appropriate graduate degree in
psychology, social work, counseling or closely related field from
an accredited college or university AND a minimum of three (3)
years full-time experience as a licensed clinician AND a minimum
of two (2) years in a full-time experience in a supervisory,
management, and/or administrative position. Ability to meet
the California requirements for County Mental Health Plan
Director (California Administrative Code, Title 9, Div.1, Ch. 3,
Art. 8, Section 620) is preferred.
Special Requirements: Possession of a
current and valid California license as a Psychologist, Clinical
Social Worker or Marriage and Family Therapist is required.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid and appropriate
driver’s license.
