Annualized salary $164,326 to 181,176, DOQ

Description:

Sacramento County has a population of 1,433,000. The Department of Health and Human Services has a FY2012-13 budget of $433 million with over 1,800 staff. In addition to Administration, the Department is structured into five divisions corresponding to major program areas: Child Protective Services, Primary Health Services, Public Health, Senior and Adult Services (Adult Protective Services and In-Home Supportive Services), and Behavioral Health Services (Alcohol and Drug Services; Mental Health Promotion, Treatment and Outreach; and PublicGuardian/Conservator/Administrator). The former Director was promoted to the position of Chief Deputy County Executive for Countywide Services, and this is the person to whom this position reports. This is an exempt position.

Qualifications:

Requires a relevant bachelor’s degree; preference may be given to candidates with a master’s degree or higher. Must have seven years of progressively responsible management experience in the delivery of health and/or human services which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge and abilities. This experience will include program planning and implementation; budgeting; contract negotiation and monitoring; development of a comprehensive, collaborative service delivery system; and supervision of executive-level staff. 

In addition, candidates should have demonstrated success in leading an organization that includes child protective services and/or health services, have a proven ability managing budgets that involve multiple funding sources, and experience dealing effectively with labor organizations and a civil service system. Having worked with diverse communities and community  partners is also important.  California County or State government experience is preferred, although senior executives from large non-profit organizations with similar missions will also be considered.
