Director of the Public Health Laboratory

Salary: $78,879 – $107,675 annually, DOQ
The Director of the Public Health Laboratory reports to the Health Officer and has oversight for Monterey County’s State-of-the-Art BSL3 clinical laboratory and an environmental lab. The ideal candidate will operate in a manner consistent with the organizational and operational values of the Health Department. This begins with a commitment to the mission of community wellness and health protection and incorporates emphasis on enhanced service delivery, strategic thinking, productivity and efficiency, and an operational style inclusive of effective communication, collaboration and respect.
The position requirements include the federal qualifications of a doctoral degree from an accredited university and board certification by an accredited organization approved by the Health and Human Services Agency. Additionally, state requirements include a PHM certificate issued by the State and at least four years of full time Public Health Laboratory experience, two of which must be at the supervisory level or above.
