$99,828 – $121,870 per year
Salary effective July 6, 2014: $101,825 – $124,307 per year.

Description:

The County of Nevada, California, located in the scenic Sierra foothills, seeks a Director of Social Services. Under general direction of the Health and Human Services Agency Director and in accordance with all Federal, State and County laws, regulations, and procedures, this position is responsible for administration of the overall public social services of the County, including the Federal and State public assistance programs; directs and coordinates a diverse staff of social work, supervisory, administrative and clerical personnel; oversees the work of the County Public Guardian-Conservator to ensure that all persons under public guardianship or conservatorship are treated in accordance with the law; oversees the County Veteran Services Office; and performs related work as required.

Qualifications:

Requirements: Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social, Human or Health Services, Sociology, Behavioral Science, Public Administration or closely related field. One year as a County Social Services Director; OR two years as a Program Manager Fiscal/Administrative Manager OR comparable level position in a California County Social Services or related Department. A Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in social work or in a related field is highly desirable.

Licenses and Certificates: Enrollment in the Nevada County Community Leadership Institute with completion within one year of date of hire. Enrollment in the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) Senior Executive Credential Program with completion within 2 years of hire date. Possession of a valid California driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
