Salary:

$26.92 – $32.86 per hour

Description:

Under direction, to investigate difficult and complex criminal cases for the District Attorney’s office; to obtain and process information and evidence required and prepare cases for prosecutors; to assist local law enforcement jurisdictions with criminal investigations; and to perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:  A high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by 15 college semester hours in police science, criminal justice or a related field.

Experience:  Two years of field experience in criminal investigations at a level equivalent to Sheriff’s Investigator in Tuolumne County.  Must possess a California driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.

Must possess a Basic P.O.S.T. certificate; possession of an Intermediate P.O.S.T. certificate is desirable.  Must be able to maintain firearms qualification; must be able to meet physical, psychological and background standards.  Must be willing to work on a call-in basis including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays; must be willing to work irregular hours as required.

Knowledge of: Principles, practices, techniques and equipment used in in-depth criminal investigations, including arson.  Grand jury procedures and requirements as pertain to investigation work.  Laws, codes, regulations and court rulings governing suspect and prisoner rights, search and seizure, and rules of evidence.  Functions, authorities and organization of other departments and agencies involved in the prosecution of criminal cases.
