Description:

The San Joaquin County Public Works Department is seeking a highly experienced, self-motivated leader to join a progressive, public service employer who provides great opportunities for diverse assignments and professional growth.  The ideal candidate will have professional engineering experience with a public sector employer in the area of Water Resources and/or Flood Management engineering. 

The San Joaquin County Public Works Department Flood Management and Water Resources Divisions are challenged with representing the County’s interests with respect to enhanced flood protection, reliable water supplies, and improving water quality in an integrated and regional manner consistent with Statewide trends.  The Divisions are also charged with representing the County’s interests in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Bay-Delta.  Well qualified candidates will be challenged and encouraged to display exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.  The position requires frequent interaction and communication with multi-disciplinary project teams, department peers and management from various County departments, and local, State and Federal representatives and stakeholders.

The Engineer IV is a licensed Professional Civil Engineer level and performs advanced professional field and office engineering work, provides professional engineering judgment on projects and studies, and may supervise engineering staff.

The current vacancies are in the Water Resources and Flood Management Divisions. These positions will be involved with projects relating to flood management, flood-way encroachments, hydraulic analysis and design, groundwater management planning, hydrogeology, municipal stormwater quality program management, land use applications and Public Works permitting.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications are Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a Civil Engineer as issued by the California Board of  Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors and two years of engineering experience attained either pre or post registration as a Civil Engineer performing activities relating to water resources and/or flood management issues.
