Description:

The Human Resources (HR) Department is recruiting for a Human Resources Division Manager (Division Manager) to lead the Employee Relations/Classification and Compensation Division. The Department is seeking experienced labor/employee relations professionals with progressive management experience who can effectively represent the County’s position in collective bargaining and on complex classification, compensation, and employee relations matters.

The Division Manager will report to the Assistant Human Resources Director and will be responsible for managing the various functional areas of the Division. Working through subordinate staff, the incumbent will oversee the County’s grievance and arbitration processes, be accountable for the County’s timely response to complaints filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, examine and make recommendations on employee relations policies and practices, administer the Department’s classification and compensation program, and may serve as lead negotiator during collective bargaining.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years of professional human resources work with primary managerial responsibility for a specialized HR division or program.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.  A Juris Doctorate or master’s degree is highly desired.
