Description:

The Contra Costa County Human Resources Department is recruiting individuals to fill a vacant Labor Relations Manager- Exempt position located in Martinez, CA.

The Labor Relations Manager – Exempt reports directly to the County Finance Director. Under general direction this classification plans, organizes, and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Labor Relations Unit of the County Administrator’s Office for the County; develops and implements the labor relations goals polices, and priorities; effectively manages and completes multiple negotiations concurrently while simultaneously maintaining day-to-day operations; conducts special studies and projects; provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to senior level management, including complex and voluminous document management.

Qualifications:

Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in labor relations, human resources, organizational development, industrial psychology, business or public administration or a closely related field.

A Master’s degree in a field identified above or a Juris Doctor degree is preferred.

Experience: Six (6) years of increasingly responsible professional experience in the areas of contract negotiations, contract administration, and grievance dispute resolution performing a wide variety of complex administrative and supervisory duties. Experience in the public sector is preferred.

2. Application Evaluation: Depending on the number of applications received, an Application Evaluation Board may be convened to evaluate and select the best-qualified candidates for invitation to the next phase of the examination.

3. Oral Interview: An oral interview will be conducted by a Qualifications Appraisal Board in Martinez, CA. The Board will evaluate candidates in job-related areas. Candidates must receive a rating of at least 70 from a majority of the Board members to be ranked on the employment list. (Weighted 100%)
