The County of El Dorado is conducting this recruitment to fill one (1) full-time vacancy for the Probation Department located in Placerville. It will also establish a list, for up to six months, which may be used to fill future part-time, full-time and Extra Help vacancies in Placerville or South Lake Tahoe.
Under general supervision, supervises the staff and participates in the activi¬ties of a County Juvenile Facility on an assigned shift; performs related work as assigned.
This is a first supervisory level in this series, responsible for planning, organizing, supervising and reviewing the work of assigned juvenile detention staff and participating in activities. In addition, incumbents assist in the overall administration of a County Juvenile Facility in assigned areas. This class is distinguished from Deputy Chief Probation Office in that the latter has overall management responsibility for all activities in a County Juvenile Facility.
Equivalent to possession of an Associate of Arts degree and one
(1) year of experience counseling and overseeing juveniles in a
detention facility at a level equivalent to the County’s class of
Sr. Deputy Probation Officer – Institutions, OR two years of
experience at a level equivalent to the County’s class of Deputy
Probation Officer II – Institutions.
Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must possess certificates of completion of Juvenile Corrections Officer CORE training and Penal Code 832 training. Within the first year of employment, must successfully complete CPR and First Aid training and Supervisor CORE training certified by the Board of State and Community Corrections.
Candidates not currently employed as a Peace Officer with the El Dorado County Probation Department, must also successfully meet all requirements for Peace Officer status pursuant to Government Code Sections 1029 and 1031, including a criminal history check, comprehensive background investigation, and psychological and medical evaluation.
